About GameRoomWise: Who We Are and How We Work

What GameRoomWise is, where our table sizes, clearances and prices come from, and how the site makes money without selling recommendations.

About GameRoomWise: Who We Are and How We Work
The short answer GameRoomWise is an independent guide to game room tables: pool, ping pong, foosball, air hockey, shuffleboard, and darts. We work from published specs, governing-body rules and dated retailer prices, show the math behind every room size, and earn affiliate commissions that never decide a pick.

Most game room advice starts with the table and ends with “make sure you have enough space.” GameRoomWise starts with the room. Every guide here answers the question in numbers: how many inches a 9-foot pool table really needs, how far the oche sits from a dartboard, what a slate table costs to deliver and level, and which builds hold up.

What GameRoomWise is

GameRoomWise is an independent editorial site for homeowners planning a game room: people finishing a basement, garage or bonus room, parents choosing a family table, and players upgrading from a toy-grade table to a real one. We cover pool and bumper pool tables, ping pong, foosball, air hockey, shuffleboard and darts. The room planner checks what fits in your room, alone or together, with cue and play clearances and a scaled floor plan.

Where our numbers come from

Governing-body specs. Pool table playing surfaces follow the World Pool-Billiard Association equipment specifications; ping pong table and net sizes follow the ITTF Laws of Table Tennis; dartboard height and throw distance follow the published darts standards.

Manufacturer spec sheets. Outside dimensions, weights and materials come from the maker’s own listing, not from a retailer’s summary.

Dated prices. Prices are US prices in USD with the month and year we checked them. They change, so confirm on the retailer’s page before buying.

Math you can check. Room sizes are computed, not copied from a chart, and the method is written out on the planner page.

Our editorial rules

Specific beats safe. Every buying question gets a number, a range or a table, never a shrug.

Trade-offs are named. No table is right for every room; every recommendation says who it is not for.

No invented testing. We do not claim hands-on lab results we did not run. When we rely on a manufacturer claim, we say so.

Independence. Recommendations are chosen before affiliate status is checked. Plenty of our picks earn us nothing.

How the site makes money

Reader support: some links are affiliate links that pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. The full policy is in the affiliate disclosure.

Corrections and requests

We would rather be corrected than confidently wrong. If something here does not match a spec sheet, a retailer listing or your own measurements, tell us and we will check it.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to what readers ask us most

Is GameRoomWise affiliated with any manufacturer or retailer?

No. GameRoomWise is independent of every table brand, retailer and governing body we cite. Where products differ, we describe the differences and name the trade-offs rather than picking sponsors.

Do you test tables in a lab?

No, and we do not pretend to. Our pages are built from manufacturer spec sheets, governing-body rules such as the WPA and ITTF equipment specifications, retailer listings with the month and year we checked them, and the clearance math shown on the room planner.

How does GameRoomWise make money?

Some product links earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you, disclosed wherever it applies. Commissions never decide a recommendation.

Can I submit a correction?

Please do. If a spec, price or clearance on this site does not match the manufacturer or your own tape measure, tell us and we will check it and update the page.
